03/31/03 Huffy® Sports Expands Pool Product Offering Huffy Sports Company, one of the world's leading manufacturers of home and institutional basketball systems, introduces its pool sports products for 2003. In addition to its core line of pool basketball systems and accessories, the company is rolling out a variety of new products, including a floating basketball goal, a pool volleyball net system, an electronic basketball game called Fold-A-HoopTM and a variety of sports balls. Huffy Sports' expanded product offering demonstrates the company's continued growth within the pool market and its commitment to innovating the category. "Since entering the pool industry in 1998, we've been able to infuse the category with a variety of new products," said Patrick Ehren, vice president of sales and marketing for Huffy Sports Company. "We've brought NBA and NCAA licensed basketball systems to the category as well as a variety of new technologies, including lighted backboards and balls. New for 2003 Huffy Sports' 2003 product line up is highlighted by the introduction of a pool volleyball net system. The system comes with a 24' x 3' heavy-duty net with top, bottom and side tape, as well as white aluminum poles that fit standard 1.5" deck sleeves. The unit is assembled using stainless steel hardware and comes with an All-TerrainTM waterproof volleyball and inflation pump. The company is also rolling out a floating basketball goal which allows for play anywhere in a pool. The unit is 26" high and comes with three foam floats that easily attach to the bottom of the goal. The durable goal comes with a 16" net and 6" inflatable basketball. Huffy Sports' Fold-A-HoopTM is an electronic, poolside basketball game that tests a player's shooting skills. Similar to a Pop-A-Shot® system, a player attempts to make as many freethrows as possible prior to the clock running out. The unit's backboard and base rest on the edge of the pool, while a netted runner floats on the surface of the water. The Fold-A-Hoop system features electronic scoring for up to two players and comes complete with three mini-basketballs. When play is done, the system easily folds-up for easy transportation and storage. Rounding out this year's new products are two new pool sports balls - the Pro ShotTM Basketball and the FrixionTMFootball. The Pro Shot basketball features a durable, waterproof cover with wide channels for maximum grip and control. The Frixion Football is ideal for play in water due to its soft, ultra-grip cover. The waterproof ball is designed for all ages and is ideal for young children just learning to throw and catch.
